A bit hard to identify but it looks like a damaged bridge. Most of the bridges were destroyed, either by Allied troops trying to slow German progress or by German troops try to slow down Allied troops during their retreat. Col. Clinton S. Berrien would briefly become the third commander of the 5th TD Group in late 1942. He was replaced by Lt. Col. Joseph K. Gibson, who took over on May 14, 1943. Berrien was born on July 21, 1897 and died on January 25, 1973, at the age of 75. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Section 3, Site 4460-A.
