  • This is the first of a series of official and "Confidential" photos provided to Col. George G. Elms, of the 2nd TD Group. They were provided to him to familiarize him and his officers with the new type of German tank. I believe this is the Tiger II, which was often incorrectly called the "King Tiger" by Allied soldiers.   • Although the previous images were German tanks, this one looks like a heavily camouflaged M36 and crew. The chassis and turret seem to be covered in netting, which obscures almost all of the unit's details. Photo courtesy of Kristin Larsen.
