Morning Reports - 6th TD Group

When I started doing my research, I quickly learned that official documentation was going to be a difficult to find and what was available would be costly.  Individual service records were destroyed or badly damaged from a 1973 fire and subsequent water damage at the National Archive facility in St. Louis.  In addition, unit rosters for the years 1944-45 were destroyed to make room in the facility.

One source of some useful information I only learned about recently is the Morning Reports that each unit prepared.  These reports identify where the unit was stationed, the movements of individual soldiers from one unit to another and information on awards and diciplinary actions that were taken.

I was fortunate to come in contact with Brian Siddall who was already doing work with Morning Reports and was very knowledgeable about them.  He has and is still doing work on other units and was very interested in the work I was doing.  He has now expanded his services to include providing Morning Reports to others at a reasonable cost.  I have purchased a few reports from Brian for the 6th TD Group, which are listed below.  These documents were very helpful and provided information I hadn't known before.  This site will be updated to include this new information.  In the future, I hope to be able to purchase more of these reports, but for now the costs are prohibitive for me.

For anyone doing research on another unit and has interest in purchasing Morning Reports, you can contact Brian by phone (607) 275-8080 or by mail at Airborne In Normandy Research - P.O.
