My Grand Uncle served in the 893RD when it hit the beach on June 6th. He made it all the way until 13 August and First Lieutenant Clyde Walker found a permanent place in Brittany American Cemetery, St. James, France. I am seeking information on the Purple Heart and Silver Star he was awarded that month. Anyone who can help with the General Order Number or information can contact me at winddrakes@yahoo.com

I never thought I would find type of information you have on this website. I found my Father-in-law listed several times in notes for the 640th Tank Destroyer BN. He was in a Reconnaissance Platoon. He was also listed in a notebook in the personnel section. His name was Lt. L.K. Corder. He is listed on 22 Jan 1945 with a Sgt Ellison, 26 Jan 1945 (Lt. Corder directed artillery fire from a Cub observation plane), 2 Feb 1945 (Lt. Corder injured hand and arm during fire fight) I have his Purple Heart he received for this wound. 3 Feb 1945 the Cabanatuan Prison Camp was captured. 4 Feb 1945 (Lt. Corder evacuated) These dates and places correspond with the military records I have for Lewis Kevan Corder.

I recently located my Dad's "Enlisted Record and Report of Separation -- Honorable Discharge" WD AGO Form 53 - 55
In Box 32 Battles and Campaigns, it lists RYUKUS GO 33 WD 45 AS AMENDED.
It's obvious that the Ryukus indicates the Okinawa Campaign (Operation Iceberg) but I can't verify Dad's actual participation; the dates are a good sign, though.
He was assigned to 774th Med San Co as a Switchboard Oper(ator) 650
He departed for WPTO (Western Pacific Theatre of Operations) on 30 Mar 42, arriving on 8 Apr 42; he departed on 26 Oct 45, arriving stateside on 25 Oct 45 :? (clearly due to crossing the International Date Line, not faster-than-light travel! :p )
I'm wondering if there's someone here who can help me find information on the 774th Medical Sanitation Company...

Thank you for your service in WWII and your great efforts to keep your history alive. I wrote a story, "The Daring World War II Los Banos Rescue," because 2 of our missionaries were among the civilians rescued. In the 1960s I lived 2 blocks from Paul Kucik, a member of your unit on the rescue. But I did not know of his involvement until I began to research for the article. I quote him in the story. The article is available on line at the Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center (iFPHC.org), 1445 Boonville, Springfield, MO 65802. Best wishes. Among the paperwork of Wilford I have a listing of all the individuals in the picture. Would that be of any value to you in identifying individuals? Wilford is still alive and living in our home in Sandy, Utah.

My father, Robert R. Ford (known as Henry) was a Tech-5 Tank Mechanic in the 809th. I have his Honorable Discharge papers, and a picture of the 809th Battalion he served with (Dec, 42 - Oct, 45). Sadly, I'm ashamed to say I don't know a lot more than that about his service. He didn't talk about it.
We nearly always attended the Reunions, and he remained close to his Sgt, Ray Osborne, from Nashville, TN for the duration of their lives. The few stories I remember were told by Ray.
I appreciate the opportunity to remember and honor my father, of whom I am so very proud!
Thank you.

My Grandfather, Lee Royce Miller, served in the 809th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He passed away in 1988--and I was too young at the time to truly appreciate his experience or find out more about it. I am so in awe of him and all of our military. Thank you for this site. It gives me a chance to learn more about his experience and to share that information with the rest of my family.

My most memorable time with him was riding around Wichita, he on his blue Harley and I on my blue BSA Spitfire MKIII.
He never liked to camp out with my Boy Scout Troop. He said he never wanted to be cold again. As I l;earned the history of the Bulge, I can now understand.

Hello, I am called Lionel PARET, I live in the Vosges with Vagney. I congratulate you for your site which very interesting and is well conceived. I am with the document retrieval on the release of my village and the cities neighbourhood (Remiremont, Cleurie, Saint-Heart…). I know that 601st TD Battalion was in support of the 7th regiment infantry in Vagney between on October 4, 1944. I have the JMO of the 7 RIUS and 756 Battalion tank which speaks a little bit about the missions of the TD, but I miss the JMO of the 601 of this period. Can you say to me if you have docs of this period, I saw that you had a photograph of the bridge of Vecoux, it is to 8 km of at home. Thank you to answer me please. Lionel

Not sure if my grandfather was in the TD's or not he received a certificate from North Camp Hood as a Pioneer. His name was Vernon Little,JR but all of his records have his name as Vernard! He was nicknamed Shorty by his brothers and family, not sure if had this name then or not. The photo in the 671st battalion shows 5 gentleman two kneeling and three standing. The one on the left looks like my grandfather but the picture is blurry and its hard to be sure. He passed away in 1985 and I was much to young to ask any questions. I requested his enlistment records from the NARA but they only have his assignments as Headquarters Company 668 Medium Port. He was a T/4 upon his discharge. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
