My father Richard Mossner was in the 602TD battalion. On his 86th birthday had an opportunity to operate a M-18 Hellcat. Like he never left the controls. He lives at the home he never left near Frankenmuth Michigan.

My father, Tomas Cortez served on the 821st, Company A out of Fort Hood Tx and then onto Breckenridge KY. He saw action in the battle of St. Lo, France.I am happy to report he is doing good at age 92. He resides in San Jose, CA. His Staff Sgt. was Bruce Edwards. Edwards went onto to be a catcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers who then became the L A Dodgers.
If any of you were in the same battalion, he would love to hear from you. I am his son. My e-mail appears above. God Bless you all who served.

Hey,
I'm the grand daughter of Herbert McNeill and would love any information and pictures I could get of him. He never really talked about his time in the Army but I know he was in CO B 658Th AMPH Tractor BN and that he received a bronze star medal. Hoping to find out more with this great site :)

Unlike my mom (mary) I was able to get my grandpa to talk very little about WWII. But when looking at his medals I was able to get him to open up and tell me what they were for. He told.me how they stormed Normandy and how the Army tried to give him a purple heart when he saved two people from a tank and he told them "Hell no, there are other soliders the deserve better than me". It is nice to learn more of where he was actually stationed over in Europe, also knowing his side of the story makes it that much more complete!

Thank you for this web site to give the ones that served a chance to reconized. My dad Cpl. Clifford Jack was an *** man. He never talked about the war or what he seen. After he passed away that is when I found out about a diary he wrote about his time in the war. It opened up my eyes and after reading it I wanted to know more but he was no longer here. So thank you for answering some of the questions not only me but other people may want to know about there loved one's who have served our country. So thank you to my husband Mel Kilgore for finding out about this web site and getting his name out there. For also digging up and searching all the information.

My great uncle John Cwikla was part of the 635th TD Battalion. I read the reports of the Day he was injured and would eventually die 2 days later on 14 December, 1944. I would love to talk to anyone that might have known him as I never did. Maybe someone has a picture as I have never seen one. I'm a proud veteran and I just want to know the man who died for his country.

My Dad was Clarence T. Leddy, who served in the 819th Recog. Unit in WWII in Palau. He would never discuss with me his time in the war prior to his passing in 1982 at age 60, so it has been very interesting to discover the history of the unit via this web site. I spoke by telephone just yesterday with Richard A. Scalise, who served in the unit with my Dad. I would welcome any contact from anyone who would have know/remembers my Dad. I can never fully express the gratitude and appreciation to all who served with him...

My stepdad was Wayne Moore - he spoke very little about his experience in Bastogne with the 705 td. I've always wondered what grief he must have experienced during that ordeal. My hat is off to all those brave men who faced the germans there.
If anyone happens to have known him, I would be very grateful for any information you could share with me. Many thanks.

When working as a project officer for Combat Developments Command, I was told that the M60A1E2 was "a damned tank destroyer." I then consulted WWII manuals and learned enough about TD deployment to write tactics for the "damned thing." I have been intrigued by the TD concept ever since.

My grandfather Graden James Cook was in the 631st. I am grateful to him and everyone else who has served. I am lucky to have a 13 year old son who is very active in studying WW2 and the history afterwards. We have a few pictures but not much. If anyone has more we would be interested in seeing them.I believe his rank was S/Sargent. Thank you. :) :)

I am somewhat a history buff (WWII) and seeing as to how my father-in-law, Cpl. Clifford Jack (RIP) served this great country of ours in the 603rd, I am interested in learning more about what he did, where all he went. Mr. Jack passed away a few years before I met and married his wonderful daughter, so I never got the chance to meet him. I have been reading his diary, preserved all his medals, commendations, citations etc. to present them to his grandson (my stepson) when he turns 21.

Hello,
I have enjoyed visiting this site. I’m the Chief Instruction at the 138th Regiment (Combat Arms) at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. The 138th has direct linage to the 638th Tank Destroyer Battalion formed early in WW II. We wear the “Seek and Destroy” Distinctive Insignia. I’m researching the 638th TD for a historical exhibit in a wing of our building. Being located in Indiana and an Indiana National Guard unit, we would like to find information on any Indiana soldiers who served in the 638th during WW II. Our intent is to honor our linage with information, photo’s and museum style exhibit cases of replica/reproduction artifacts. If anyone can help us with Indiana soldier information and or photographs, please contact me.

I didn't mention in my earlier posting that my father, Rusell Newell of Co B 607th died in 1984.
Also, I found a good website for the Field Artillery Officers' Candidate School at Fort Sill for those who are interested. They are having a reunion April 30- May 3,2014. http://faocsalumni.org
I also want to honor two TD men who were killed in action and are buried in the National Cemetery in Memphis, TN: 1 Lt Richard A. Reynolds of Co B, 607th and 1 Lt Richard J. Merrill, of Co C 610th

This website is great. My grandfather served in the 703rd TD BTN in the 3rd armored division from the beginning until the end of WWII. He started out with the M10 TD and graduated to the M36 towards the end of the war. This is the only site I've seen dedicated to the men who fought in tank destroyers. It was really great reading their histories. Please contact me as my grandmother and I would love to share his story and pictures from WWII. His name was SGT Frank Walker.

I wish to thank the administrators of this sight for the preservation of this history and the honor it gives to a generation passing quickly from our sight, if not memory. My father Blondell Eugene Groseclose served in recon units for both the 607th and 811th. Though he passed in 98, this would have been his 100th birthday. I miss him dearly. Thank you and all of you who visit this "virtual" memorial, and especially the surviving men and women lives were changed by the struggle for freedom in that great and terrible war. May God bless us all in this holiday season and throughout the New Year.

I have a framed map/chart (approx. 16"x24") that says "Victory Greetings" with the complete schedule of the "First Tank Destroyer Group". I will be happy to send it to anyone who will appreciate it. It has no sentimental attachment for me, as I purchased it at a yard sale or thrift shop because I love maps.
